Our Story

Downing & Corzatt, LLC was originally founded as John Grimes, CPA during the 1960’s, when John opened his first office in Portland’s Hollywood district.  Alan Corzatt began his career in public accounting with John in 1977.  After John passed away in 1998, Art Lovett and Alan Corzatt formed Lovett & Corzatt to continue providing tax and accounting services to the firm’s clients.  When Art retired in 2014, Tim Downing joined with Alan.  40 years and 3 moves later, Downing & Corzatt, LLC has grown to what it is today.

Alan enjoys assisting people with their finances.  He has been leading Financial Peace University classes for over 10 years.  He has watched people’s lives change as they become debt free and have hope and a plan for their future.

Alan enjoys traveling with his wife Janet.  They have driven across the United States twice, and have visited many historical sites around New England including Maine and Boston, and many places between here and there.  Alan likes to go to Disneyland and when asked, will share stories about Bat Day at Disneyland and their cruise to nowhere.

After spending time working as a cost accountant for a manufacturing company, Tim moved into public accounting and obtained his certified public accountant license in 2000.  Tim is experienced in tax, financial statement, compilation and review services, and litigation support, and enjoys studying business and occupational fraud.

Outside of the office, Tim spends time with wife and children, and is also a firefighter, EMT, and certified rope rescue technician.  Tim has participated in the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s Scott Firefighter Stairclimb for the past 5 years.
